An Update from Emanuel Fresku Church

The situation here in Albania is not good by all appearances. The only “weapon” that our government has is “total isolation” and for three weeks now we have been totally isolated since the medical system here is not very good. Currently only one person per family can go out for 1 hour to buy food. People here now are fearing a famine more than the virus itself. Since many Albanians live with incomes on a day-to-day basis, they "work today to eat today” and they are running out of income to buy food and basic needs. We are currently seeing people who are facing serious food difficulties. As a body of Christ we are trying with what we can to come alongside them, trying to bring some food and we are seeing this need increasing. Since there were a lot of difficulties only a few months before with the strong earthquakes that hit our region, people are really despairing. During this period of time we were able to help 468 families with food packages and we got some containers that are used as a temporal home for those who lost their homes from the earthquake. There is a lot to be done and we know that God will provide. In the same time. we are eyewitness of seeing how the Gospel is being spread and received.

But God who is rich in His mercy is using his WORD to penetrate many hearts. Among them is Pashe and her husband Preng. Pashe came to our church some months ago and she has been exposed to the gospel but only recently, through this difficult situation, has her heart become so open to the gospel.

She came to believe in Christ and she is so spiritually hungry that she s asking us a lot of questions every day via phone regarding the Bible as she reads it. Please pray for Pashe and Preng and their children so that they will continue to have an open heart and that the word of God will feed their spirit and they will be a testimony among their family members.

In the meantime, we are having daily devotions and prayer with all our church people via phone and internet, individually and in groups. We can’t wait for the time where we will all gather together and worship Christ as a group again.

Also we want to report that our math tutoring classes are still going forward online. This has been a good testimony to the families with the way they have seen our care for the students. Please pray that many hearts will come to know the Lord.
